LRTs - Limited Release Tags - are applied to certain pieces of luggage, like for instance, pushchairs, wheelchairs and musical instruments. This is so the airline can pass on responsibility of carrying such goods if they are lost, stolen or damaged.
If you are making a claim for such an item and your airline refuses it remind them they are breaking the rule of carrying passenger's baggage, as stated in the Montreal Convention. |

Other airlines give passengers a certain amount of money per day, capped at a certain number of days. Some will pay a set amount per day up to a maximum number of days. Or your airline may want you to buy your emergency goods and they will then reimburse you when you present the receipts. |
