First and foremost check your passport is valid and also those of any children that are travelling with you. The biggest reason travellers are refused entry onto a flight from Southampton Airport is that their passport is invalid. An adult's is valid for 10 years, a child's just 5 years.
Also check that the passports are not in a terrible condition and that persons (excluding babies & children) have not changed appearances beyond recognition (in relation to the photo).
